In this interactive workshop, GLARE explores the intersection of identity and language in a diverse, multicultural, multilingual society. Through the use of dramatic monologue, spoken work and experiential activities, GLARE challenges its audience to draw on inspirational people from the past to transcend the destructive labeling of self and others. This interactive workshop was initially prepared for the Shepard Symposium on Social Justice, in Laramie, Wyoming, April 2013.
SHADOWED DREAMER Written and Directed by Stephen Hart
This one-man dramatic monologue is a testimony to human resilience in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. The piece considers multiple themes including: child abuse, domestic violence, homelessness, gay identity, surviving rape and learning to live with HIV. The overwhelming popularity of production led GLARE to sponsor Stephen Hart as an artist-in-residence. During the period, Shadowed Dreamer was seen by over 3000 people.
